What is K&R all about?

G.K. Chesterton was a magnificent man-child who was already ready for battle – both literal and figurative battle.  Chesterton himself was harmless.  It was his ideas that were lethal, and he used them to both strike and ward off  intellectual combatants.

He was funny, but never flippant.  Fearless, but never ferocious. He was a wordsmith, a patriot and a recovering sinner.

Chesterton was known for his jovial, winsome nature, and we believe the paradoxical picture of a kind-hearted 6’4”, 300lb bear-of-a-man, smiling and whistling as he strolled down the street with a gun and knife in his pockets, was the perfect metaphor for what we want to do here at K&R: we want to harmlessly entertain with our deadly-serious ideas and convictions.

While this site will not be about GKC, we hope to pay tribute to GKC with the commentary emanating hereafter.

The K & R Blog will offer the reflections and ruminations of observant, thoughtful conservatives on everything from politics to prose, film to free markets.  Our primary intent is to entertain and engage our readers.
